Buddy the tractor survived the rollover!!

Man, it came through the accident better than me. The cylinders were full of oil, (which had the engine seized), the crankcase was empty and the hydraulic oil was gone, as well as the float was stuck in the carbeurator. It took a little over $100 worth of petroleum in all forms to get it back, but it looks OK.

I will have to get or make a muffler, as it was already in bad shape and is now shot. If I had a mig welder, I could probably fix it. But I only have a cheap stick welder, and it would make a mess.

I have been back down there where I turned it over, and it is a dangerous place. If I were bushhogging again down there, I would probably make the same mistake again. It just doesn't look like a dropoff there. It is downright eerie.

For anyone who does any tractor work, be extra careful. Always walk over any thick places, to look for holes, ditches or drop-offs. I have been doing farming work for almost all my life. I am well experience in this stuff. But I came close to death in an instant. I hope I never go through this again.

Be careful guys. Crazy

Wow, good to know. Tractors are pretty tough pieces of equipment.
And you are right. You have to be very careful with these things. I ran into a canal years ago myself.

What type of tractor was it crazy?

It was an old International 404 made in the early 60's I think. What is so bad, is it has a life PTO, which means that you can't stop the pto with the clutch. If the PTO is turning, you can't stop the tractor either, with the clutch or brake. If you could jerk it out of gear is the only way to stop it, til the pto stops. That is what pushed me over the hill. The blades were turning, and pulled the tractor even when I stomped on the brakes.

I may do some work with it next week. Got to get back on her. But I am hurting very bad down in my hip, man it just wont' quit. And these Loritabs wont' touch the pain either. :eyepop: Not to mention my job requires me going up and down ladders for 10 hours a day, 10 and 12 foot ladders. But such is life. Got to do what I have to do right now. Wife is back out of work, and things are BAD. Have thought of going back to my old money-making ways. Fortunately I have decided not to, but it was bad to even think of such.

Thanx, Crazy
