build it

I just finished my third copy of the ARRL HANDBOOK 28 volt power supply,
modified to 13.8 volts.
I started with a 44volt 16 amp transformer purched for $5 at a , you got it,
a farm show flea market..
Using a digital volt meter and a sharp tool I found the exact center of the output winding within a few hundredths of a volt.
I cut the winding with a dremel tool and added two wires to parallel the windings , making a 22 volt 32 amp winding.
Built the whole thing in a cabinet from a TV sweep generator.
I used a different output transistor than the 3055s called for.
I used a 30 amp version.
With the sheetmetal work etc, I have abut 40 hours in it.

Get out there and build.!!!!!!!

I have ictures but can't figure out how to insert them. right clik image doesnt work

K9yli,

I moved this over here in Home Brew so it would get more attention. I left a redirect in radio. Good job on the Power Supply. Post us some pics if you can.

K9yli,
Good job on the supply.

To post the pic you will need to shrink it in size. The web host will not accept large files.

Click, manage attachments>browes>upload>close window.

That should do it.

I will try a test file.

build

AH this build is killing me. i was expecting something not as bad. i just got this kit a couple of days ago and am having a killer time attaching the lower piece to the upper piece. also must everything that says "put locktight" have to have it? im guessing it would be a good idea...? Just let me know. Cheers,Vanka

don't have loctight???

just use a little finger nail polish....

or some silicone sealer,/ tub and tile sealer..

moist any glue.
just a dab as you may want to remove it some time.

red bottle locktite,, stays some what soft so easy to remove but wont vibrate loose.
