Default Spiritually slothful

Are you a spiritual sloth?

Let’s get up and personal.

A spiritual sloth is different from laziness, grief or relaxation.

What is it, you ask?

Well, it’s the “yeah, whatever” attitude. It is neither hot, nor cold. It’s being unable to continue a task or complete it, being unable to continue down the long, tedious and dusty path on which we have set as being Believers in Jesus.

Are you experiencing this inward weariness of the soul?

I’ve had a whole season of sloth.

Let’s look at the definition of “sloth”…shall we?

From Webster’s

Quote:
SLOTH, n.

1. Slowness
2. Disinclination to action or labor; sluggishness; laziness; idleness.
3. An animal, so called from the remarkable slowness of his motions.

SLOTH, v.i.
To be idle. Not in use.
So what’s the source of your spiritual “sloth-ness”?

Can you identify it?

What are the symptoms of being spiritually slothful?

How does your soul weariness manifest itself?

For me, I make excuses. I am restless, but also sluggish. I know something in my spirit just isn’t right, but yet I make no changes to right it. I hate those dry spells. But yet, I tend to wallow in it at times.

Quote:
Proverbs 24:30-32
I went by the field of the slothful,
and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
And, lo,
it was all grown over with thorns,
and nettles had covered the face thereof,
and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
Then I saw,
and considered it well:
I looked upon it,
and received instruction.
If you let alittle go at a time, a lot will be let go eventually. The enemy just needs alittle to take a mile.

What are you doing to fix this?

If we look to our season of being slothful, we can learn from it. We can tend to our fields and our gardens so that they are bountiful again.

What are the benefits, you ask? For we all love the perks of bene’s, don’t we?

Here;

Quote:
Hebrews 6:9-12
But, beloved,
we are persuaded better things of you,
and things that accompany salvation,
though we thus speak.
For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love,
which ye have shewed toward his name,
in that ye have ministered to the saints,
and do minister.
And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
That ye be not slothful,
but
followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Do we have the patience and faith to keep at the grind? Are we posting the same thing over and over again without listening to our fellow sisters and brothers? Are we even aware of learning and growing, or are we stagnant in our faith and refusing to budge off of our comfy couch?

I don’t know about you, but I am uncomfortable with change. I hate it. We moved every single year that I was a child growing up. Roots? I have none. I’ve lived in more houses, more places than I care to recount. Change makes me uncomfortable. But when I look back on the changes in my life, I see growth.

I see the Holy Spirit.

Quote:
2 Peter 1:3-11
According as his divine power
hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness,
through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:
that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
And beside this,
giving all diligence,
add to your faith virtue;
and to virtue knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance;
and to temperance patience;
and to patience godliness;
And to godliness brotherly kindness;
and to brotherly kindness charity.
For if these things be in you,
and abound,
they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But he that lacketh these things is blind,
and cannot see afar off,
and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
Wherefore the rather,
brethren,
give diligence to make your calling and election sure:
for if ye do these things,
ye shall never fall:
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly
into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
So there’s our pep talk. There is our reason and our spirit lifting message to pursue and strive and continue on this path that we are called upon.

God called you.

Are you heeding His call?

When was the last time you experienced genuine rest? When was the last time you had a “rested spirit”?

In taking care of ourselves, we mustn’t get lazy, or slothful. When you are slothful, you do NOT have peace, you have neutrality. There’s a difference.

Are you on fire? Or are you cold?

Are you lukewarm?

Quote:
Re 3:16
So then because thou art lukewarm,
and neither cold nor hot,
I will spue thee out of my mouth.
God has enough lukewarm Christians out there.

He needs mature, growing and thriving Saints in His Army.

Are you rebelling against His call?

C’mon people, get the “sloth” out…

What the difference in one that is cold and one that is hot?
For only the lukewarm will be spewed out.

BTW - was your quote of this verse a copy-paste or did you type it?
Just wondering which version had "spue" or if it was a typo.

I think sometimes we run hot or cold, it was to make one think about which side of the faucet one is using right now.

Yes.

Can't take credit on that mispelling! That one was copied from my software program.

Indeed.

Good catch!

Amen! Sing unto the Lord a new song! Let His praises fill the temple. He is the king of kings and the Lord of Lords, bow down before Him.

Great job, not Invisible. That is the coolest post, and a good way to start off the New Year. :thup2 I shall print it and when feeling sloth remember to read it, and do it.

Oh honey if you only knew. I read the word daily even if it is one verse I ask the Lord to teach me in that verse I am in prayer daily but sooooo tired I love going to church and have been missing Bible Study.

But lately since I became pregnant I just can't get into the studys or really deep into the word. It is so strange It feels slothful but in my heart I know it isn't. I am tired but I try to post and I just can't be bothered.. I mean you guys have some awesome studys but I just can't get into them, I am not seeing?.

Well the funny thing is I don't feel lukewarm?. But maybe I am?.. maybe I need to splash some cold water on my face to wake it up and drink some hot water to warm me up. But the neat thing is daily when I awake I hear the LORD and he 's saying get the armour on! and I put it on the armor and it gets me throught the day and then certain verses will pop into my head and I repeat them and get on... Verses that have been engraved into my heart and soul. so that is where I am at.

love you all

God Bless
marcie.

Thank you Racheal for waking me up.

Oh honey. This wasn't directed at any ONE person in particular.

It was more for all of us.

When we get lazy in the Word and don't change that and we know that we should. Or we let others "tell us" what it means, or what to think. God wants us to search Him out.

He wants us to love Him willingly and to be His followers in Truth.

You keep resting sweetie. That body of yours is going through big changes right now.

We'll keep a light on for you too!!!!

Oh I2d2
Sweetie...
I hope I didn't come off as it being taken personnal Because it really wasnt, my english is no good these days especially with the hormones

But JAM I do understand and get what your talking about and although now I have the excuse (somewhat) of being pregnant I have been there too many times. And although I might not think I am being slothful/lazy(rightnow)... I think deep down inside I know I have to admit it that I am.

I am not taking the deep prayer and study time I was doing befire this pregnancy. I don't know why no energy to get into it . But I need to get into deep prayer because Rey and I need an answer to a dilema and I can't fast right now and I am too tired and lack the energy to get into it. so I am at a cross roads.

Rey and I are at a stop and we need to get an answer. But because I am in the state I am in God just seems so far and although he knows our issue I need to hear his Voice to say either stay or go yes or no.

Thank you Sis for hearing me out. Love ya!.

God Bless
marcie
