Drats, I was gonna have some fun with this one. LOL

I mean before I bring my neighbor in to see my tree with the 'pentagram' I would have to first show her my Clark Griswald lights on the house and trees and the big snow globe with Santa inside all the candy cane lites along the driveway and walk way The big blow up Snow man and Santa on his sleigh a top my roof. The explain why I'm don't have enough money to help someone in need for Christmas or any time? LOL

Then I bring them in to see my lovely tree with the pentagram on top and all the other things.

I'll having my talking santa, bag of coal, stockings, the whole gamut.

I think the main gist of the matter is we have forgotten the ordained festivals or "feasts" of what was celebrated by God's people. Even in the times of Jesus.

Now, some argue that Jesus' death and resurrection did away with the old laws or "covenant" but I wonder how God feels about that, because there is NO specific verse in the NT that says "forget those festivals there people, party when ya when to"...

There are alot of verses talking about God's people forgetting His commandments, forgetting His laws, and just plain forgetting about HIM.

Would Jesus…

Have a tree?
Have lights on his house?
Buy gift’s for his family instead of giving to those in need?
Fight for a parking space close to the front of the store?
Lie to his kids about santa?
and say do these things in my name and that will make it ok...?

from heaven or from men?

I wish the things above were all I had to fight in my day to day...hahaha

I hope everyone understands the Lord's word as he wants you to ...
God bless

Well, what about Romans 14 - it does address Holy Days. Let's face it I don't think there is mention (correct me if I'm wrong ..... You: "We will" - lol) of changing the weekly day of worship to Sunday. Man did that.

Paul said to a sabbath, feast day keeping church;
  • not to let them judge you in meats, drinks, holy days nor the Sabbath/Sabbaths

Who was, and still sre today the them he was speaking of ????

those that had "forgotten the covenant of their God" and the feast days of the Lord,
and rejected the guide of their youth, and adopted the ways of the heathen,

hey, give it a try and see what happens
at the next get togather, bible study group, church get togather
remind them of Lev. ch 23, the Law of Moses concerning the clean and the unclean, ect. ect. ect.
and see :gpat who :each gets "Judgemental"

:arg

Paul said don't let them judge you as some sort of legalist,

I leave it at that and just say Merry Christmas. Most folks know that means my "Holiday" is Christmas. Sometimes the poor people out there are either under orders from management or just scared to offend due to the sick PC culture we live in. So I don't hold it against them, but I let it be known that Jesus is the reason for ALL seasons.

Yeah, that and they had the snow globes on sale and had to get the little Santa lite up pin, and new pair of reindeer ears (Oh I'm shaking my head in disbelief - my praise God how much I have grown spiritually) as I'm making fun of those things - I realized I actually did used to buy them I think I actually still have some antlers with my Christmas decorations. I have pictures from years ago when we had a Santa Suit and I dressed up in that.

My main reason for posting this was this thread was about the fact that we are celebrating a lie and I wondered how those of you whom choose not to celebrate any part of it felt about me even just saying Merry Christmas in return to 'Happy Hollidays' as some here have stated they don't celbrate so was I just spreading the lie? (Also, I do have a fever today and was dragging as it was - so let's say I was feeling up to par - who here would have taken it a step further and evangelized?)

btw- one of you replied that it is often the pc thing and ppl are afraid of their bosses - which is true. The saleclerk did reply again Merry Christmas after I said it :thup2 and she then actually offered me a back for my 2 liter of soda (the drink of the carbonated gods - LOL)

Oh, I celebrate. I just don't celebrate CHRIST-MASS.

All the family tries to get together while they are off for the holidays.
We bake a bunch of gingerbread cookies so we can bite thier heads off! LOL!
We make egg-nog and sometimes have a bottle of wine. Play games and watch movies, etc. after we have said blessing over a nice meal.
We even dress up the house with scented candles and flowers (poinsettas).
And we don't do the exchanging of gifts thing. We do buy a gift or two for the small children so they will have something to keep them occupied while us adults play dominoes or watch a movie!!!
So, we have a jolly good time!!! And we're not broke afterwards!!!

I just don't claim that the reason for our party is the birth of Christ.
It has been a very freeing experience to let go of the lies.

As far as the store clerk, my response would have problably been "God bless you". That one kinda fits at any time of the year.

BC, you can say Merry Christmas to me anytime. I know you mean well by it.

Good point BC, I haven't really thought of that slant to it. I guess since I don't really have a problem with celebrating his birthday on Dec. 25 even though I know it probably didn't happen then. So to me, I just want folks to respect the season, not the inaccuracies.

Sorry to hear you are under the weather. I pray you get well soon.
